  • Maliq Carr joins WWE’s NIL program

    Maliq Carr is already a two-sport athlete at Michigan State. The redshirt sophomore tight end who also played on the basketball team last season is now branching out in a new direction. Carr on Monday morning was announced as a new member of World Wrestling Entertainment’s name, image, and likeness program. He is one of 15 athletes added to the WWE’s Next in Line program, which provides a path from college sports to the WWE. The group includes athletes from 14 different schools and seven sports, ranging from wrestling to cheer and dance to volleyball to track and field.

  • Izzo says Keon Coleman, Maliq Carr in ‘tryout’ period for MSU hoops

    Head Coach Tom Izzo announced on Wednesday that freshman wide receiver Keon Coleman and redshirt freshman tight end Maliq Carr will be regulars at basketball practice for what he called a couple of weeks of “tryout.” Not officially on the team, Izzo said Coleman and Carr might not be heavily involved in the flow of regular practice and drill work but will work out throughout the test period.

    On Thursday, Gilmore (tight ends coach) posted a picture on Twitter of himself and his group of tight ends on the golf course. Just a harmless picture, right? Well, it looks like it gave away a position change for one of the newest Spartans who was a former four-star receiver. Maliq Carr was pictured with the group of tight ends.

  • Insight on why Oak Park star Maliq Carr is transferring to Michigan State

    Carr, listed at 6 feet 5, 235 pounds, played in three games as a receiver for the Boilermakers last season and had one reception for 15 yards. At the end of 2019, he was deemed a top 20 player in the state by the Free Press’ Mick McCabe. McMichael said coach Mel Tucker and MSU’s staff sold Carr on being used as a hybrid tight end in the mold of Kyle Pitts and Jimmy Graham. .

    Maliq Carr is coming home. Carr, once a two-sport star at Oak Park, announced Friday via Instagram he is committed to Michigan State football and transferring from Purdue.
