The Tournament of Roses announced on Tuesday that former Michigan State All-American running back Lorenzo White has been named to the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame Class of 2022. White is the first Spartan to be inducted into the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame.

Will Lorenzo White’s Michigan State rushing records ever be broken?
Lorenzo White didn’t accomplish his top individual goal while at Michigan State. That was winning the Heisman Trophy, and the closest the running back came was finishing fourth in both 1985 and 1987. However, White broke a slew of program records, including rushing yards in a season and career, along with career rushing touchdowns. More than three decades later, those marks, and others, still stand.

Lorenzo White: Michigan State’s Newest Member of the College Football Hall of Fame
Elected into the College Football Hall of Fame in January, White’s name was added to Michigan State’s Ring of Fame on the east upper deck at Spartan Stadium earlier this season and he will be recognized during Saturday’s Homecoming game against – appropriately enough – Indiana.

Lorenzo White had a huge footprint on Spartans football
Lorenzo White was named to the College Football Hall of Fame on Monday, joining a host of Spartans greats. (The induction ceremony will be in New York on Dec. 10.) White stood 5 feet 11 in East Lansing, but had a big impact on the Spartans, taking them to the 1988 Rose Bowl in his senior season. As coach George Perles told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel in 1985, “We call him ‘Big Foot.’ He can gear down, let people go by him, then motor again,” referencing his size 12EE shoes.

Lorenzo White Elected to College Football Hall of Fame
Lorenzo White, Michigan State’s all-time leading rusher and a two-time first-team All-American, has been elected to the College Football Hall of Fame. The 2019 class, which features 13 players and two coaches, was announced Monday morning by the National Football Foundation and also live on ESPN’s SportsCenter.

A College Football Hall of Fame minus Lorenzo White lacks credibility
White is on the ballot for the ninth time in 2019, along with 76 other Football Bowl Subdivision-level players. The class of about 10 players will be announced on Jan. 7. There’s nothing more White can do, other than hope those with a say — the more than 12,000 National Football Foundation members and present Hall of Famers — remember the mid-to-late 1980s this time.

Four former Spartans on 2019 ballot for College Football Hall of Fame
Former Spartan players Flozell Adams, Tony Mandarich and Lorenzo White and former coach Darryl Rogers are among those on the ballot announced Monday by the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame.
