  • Lashawn Paulino-Bell heads to EL, enrolls at MSU

    Lashawn Paulino-Bell, a senior defensive end from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas, committed to Michigan State on June 9, 2016 and signed his letter of intent to MSU in February. Bell was in the Bahamas on vacation and was involved in an accident earlier in April and was airlifted from the Bahamas to Jackson Hospital in Florida and treated for internal injuries. Paulino-Bell is progressing from his injuries with rehab and treatment from his accident and enrolled at Michigan State on Wednesday.

  • Paulino-Bell not at freshman camp, expected to arrive in July

    Michigan State football’s freshman class arrived on campus Sunday and went through their first workout as Spartans on Tuesday. Lashawn Paulino-Bell was not among them. The three-star defensive end out of Pompano Beach (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas sustained internal injuries when he was involved in a jet ski accident in April in the Bahamas. He was originally taken to Rand Memorial Hospital in Freeport, Bahamas but was airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.

  • Paulino-Bell had ‘really good day’ as he recovers from accident

    Michigan State signee Lashawn Paulino-Bell “had a really good day” Wednesday as he recovers from injuries that were the result of a jet ski accident Sunday. The future MSU defensive end’s aunt, Suzie Jean, said in an email Wednesday night that Paulino-Bell has made progress and is moving around more. “He was able to sit up and walk,” Jean said of Paulino-Bell. “He was able to have some Gatorade and is on a regular diet now.”

    Paulino-Bell was in the Bahamas on vacation and was involved in an accident, Spartan Tailgate confirmed with Paulino-Bell’s teammate Dejmi Dumervil Jean. “While on vacation in the Bahamas, Lashawn was involved in a jet ski accident,” Jean said. “He suffered internal injuries and got airlifted back to Florida to Jackson hospital.”
