Wayne Jones III hasn’t had to visit Michigan State to know what he likes about it. “It’s like DB U there,” he said at The Opening Regional Dallas over the weekend. The Owasso (Okla.) safety, rated a 3-star junior by the 247Sports composite, picked up an offer from the Spartans in November but has not yet taken a trip to East Lansing. Still, the Spartans continue to pursue him.

Michigan State just completed its 2017 recruiting class a week ago, but the Spartans are already off to a fast start in the 2018 class with three commitments. Those three commits — cornerback Xavier Henderson, tight end Trenton Gillison and wide receiver Joseph Scates — are all from Ohio and all four-star prospects. There are also a number of other targets the staff is working hard on.
