“It’s better than what I thought. I got it coming along a little bit right now,” Michigan State commit Kameron Allen said. Allen was moving into his new home away from home, his dorm room at Michigan State. As I was talking to Allen, his parents were finishing organizing his box of belongings in the background. “I’m excited to be away from home a little bit. It goes both ways; it might be sad being far away, but a little joyful having to start over and meet a new crowd.”

Kameron Allen was busy packing suitcases on Tuesday. And for good reason. The three-star tight end from North Forney High School in Texas signed in December with Michigan State’s 2021 recruiting class and anticipated joining the program in the summer. Then Allen got the official word on Sunday the Spartans had a spot for him as a mid-year addition and he announced it Tuesday. So he’s now just days away from arriving in East Lansing.

“I figured with all of this virus stuff going on, visits won’t even get set up, and people will start committing even sooner,” he said. “At the end of the day, it’s a business decision. I felt like Michigan State gave me the best chance to impact early, just with the circumstances on their roster. That had a major impact on it.”

Michigan State’s recent commitment from tight end Kameron Allen out of North Forney (Texas) is a sign the Green and White will have staying power in recruiting the Lone Star State. The Spartans signed safety Darius Snow and running back Donovan Eaglin out of Texas in the 2020 class, but there were family connections with Snow, and Eaglin was recruited by Terrence Samuel, who is no longer on the staff.

Kameron Allen, a three-star tight end from North Forney High in Forney, Texas, committed to Michigan State 2021 recruiting class on Wednesday. Allen (6-foot-5, 220 pounds) was also offered by Arizona, Boise State, and San Diego State, among others. Allen is ranked the No. 51 tight end nationally for 2021 by the 247Sports Composite. Allen’s commitment brings MSU’s total to nine for 2021. He is the first tight end in the class.
