Michigan State goaltender Dylan St. Cyr (Northville, MIch.) has been a Big Ten Star of the Week, as announced by the Big Ten office on Tuesday morning. St. Cyr earned the week’s Third Star honors after the Spartans split the weekend series with No. 6-7 Michigan, with each team earning a 2-1 win on their home ice. St. Cyr made 22 saves in the Friday victory at Munn, several of the highlight-reel variety, and came back with 25 in the one-goal loss in Ann Arbor the next night.

There are many areas to credit for Michigan State’s sudden ascension under new Head Coach Adam Nightingale, but the addition of St. Cyr may be the most impactful. He only needed to make 22 saves in Friday night’s 2-1 win over No. 6 Michigan, but he made every one count.

Pair of Icers Earn B1G Star Honors
Michigan State had two players honored with Big Ten Three Stars honors this week – graduate student Dylan St. Cyr (Northville, Mich.) and freshman Karsen Dorwart (Sherwood, Ore.). St. Cyr earned the First Star honors for the second time this season. He made 69 saves on 72 shots against in a weekend sweep of Miami, including 39 saves in a 4-0 shutout in the series finale. Dorwart recorded his first career hat trick in the Saturday shutout at Miami, and is now the team’s goal scoring leader (7).
