Drew Beesley has already spent five seasons at Michigan State and earned a degree. The defensive end went from walk-on to scholarship player, from seldom used to starter. That’s a journey most don’t make and Beesley isn’t done. The NCAA gave all fall sports athletes an additional season of eligibility and Beesley is taking it to return as a sixth-year senior.“I had talked to my family and my teammates,” he said, “and I just made a choice that I thought was best for me.”

Raequan Williams’ eyes lit up Tuesday when asked about Drew Beesley. Beesley, a junior defensive end, had three solo tackles in a fourth-quarter spell during Michigan State’s 31-10 win over Northwestern last weekend, playing in relief of Kenny Willekes and Jacub Panasiuk. His teammates were thrilled.
