Michigan State baseball senior outfielder Dan Chmielewski was named to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic Third-Team All-America® Baseball Team as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and announced Tuesday. Chmielewski becomes the first Michigan State baseball player to earn Academic All-America honors since Brandon Eckerle in 2011.

Michigan State baseball players Dan Chmielewski and Zack McGuire were named first-team Academic All-District announced on Wednesday, May 4. Chmielewski and McGuire are the first Spartan baseball players to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors since Brandon Eckerle in 2011. Overall, they are 14th and 15th honors, and the 13th and 14th players as Ecklerle is the Spartans’ lone multiple honoree.

Jake Boss Jr. knew his team had power, but what Michigan State did against Illinois bordered on the ridiculous. The Spartans’ first five hits Sunday were home runs — all in the first two innings — and they finished with eight in their 17-6 victory in Champaign, Ill.
