Remember Cassius Peat? You may not. The Chandler, Arizona, native was only at Michigan State for one season, 2015, but his journey has been a long and winding road that included a potential return to East Lansing as recently as March 2017.

Dantonio elaborated on the reasoning for keeping Peat off the team, saying he didn’t do “certain things” during the spring semester. “It’s unfortunate what was written. I can say that,” Dantonio said at a press conference. “We’ve been in contact with Cassius throughout the semester, and there’s certain things that you’ve got to be able to get done before you can come back. It’s one of those things, but I don’t want to speak bad about anybody.”

Cassius Peat signed with Michigan State in February of 2015. Peat redshirted his first year on campus, and then the 6-foot-3, 265-pound Peat took part in MSU’s spring camp but didn’t play in the Spartans’ spring game last April. Peat then participated in Michigan State’s summer conditioning but chose to move back home to take care of some personal business in August of 2016. Mark Dantonio granted Peat a release to transfer later on that month.
