Michigan State baseball senior outfielder Bryce Kelley was named to the 2021 Google Cloud Academic First-Team All-District® Baseball Team as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). This is Kelley’s second-straight CoSIDA Academic All-District honor. He will now advance to the national ballot.

The conference coaches voted on the top six teams and also selected three student-athletes from their own squads to a Preseason Honors list. Junior pitcher Mason Erla, senior outfielder Bryce Kelley and senior infielder Bailey Peterson earned the preseason recognition.

Michigan State’s Bryce Kelley has been tabbed as the Big Ten Conference Co-Player of the Week, for his performance in the opening weekend, as announced by the conference office on Monday, Feb. 17. Kelley, a senior outfielder, shared the accolade with fellow outfielder, Grant Richardson of Indiana. Michigan’s Steven Hajjar collected both the Pitcher and Freshman of the Week awards.

After impressive freshman seasons, Kelley and Gleaves headline Spartan outfield
Despite losing a starter to the professional draft last summer, there is a strong chance that the Michigan State outfield can be just as productive in 2018. Bryce Kelley and Danny Gleaves were able to make a splash in 2017 as freshmen, and despite losing center fielder Brandon Hughes to the MLB draft, coach Jake Boss Jr. now has an outfield full of players with Big Ten experience.

Second baseman Dan Durkin, center fielder Brandon Hughes, designated hitter Chad Roskelly and pitcher Alex Troop were all tabbed to the All-Big Ten second team list, while outfielder Bryce Kelley was named to the all-freshman team.

Kelley Tabbed B1G Baseball Freshman of the Week
Bryce Kelley was named the Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week for his performance last week in MSU’s four wins. Kelley, a freshman outfielder from Rockford, Michigan (Rockford High School) had a smashing Big Ten Conference debut, hitting .400 (4-for-10) in MSU’s three games at Illinois over the weekend to open B1G action. For the week, Kelley hit .462 (6-for-13) for the week.
