Ben Carter Granted Sixth Year Of Eligibility
The NCAA has granted Spartan men’s basketball forward Ben Carter a sixth year of eligibility, approving the medical hardship waiver submitted by Michigan State. Carter joined the Spartans as a graduate transfer for the 2016-17 season but suffered a season-ending knee injury in the preseason. Carter will be eligible for the upcoming 2017-18 season.

Tom Izzo hoping to hear news ‘any day’ on Ben Carter, sixth year
The Michigan State Spartans are hoping Miles Bridges isn’t the only player unexpectedly returning to the team next season. MSU is also waiting on a decision from the NCAA regarding forward Ben Carter and a possible sixth year of eligibility. Carter came to Michigan State last summer as a grad transfer from UNLV. But before the season began, he sustained a knee injury that prevented him from ever suiting up for the Spartans during the 2016-17 campaign.

Izzo: ’99 percent’ likely Schilling gone for season
Michigan State coach Tom Izzo reiterated on Tuesday what he said last week saying 6-foot-9 graduate transfer Ben Carter won’t return from a knee injury suffered just weeks before the season began. Izzo also said it appears more likely that of 6-9 senior Gavin Schilling will be in the same boat.“In my mind, it’s 99 percent definitive,” Izzo said. “I think in his mind it is, too. So, I guess we could almost say that his chances of coming back are slim this year.”
