  • 4-star DT Alex VanSumeren hoping to carve out role early at Michigan State

    Alex VanSumeren was on track to play with his older brother at Michigan. Then the 2022 four-star defensive tackle from Essexville Garber High School decommitted from the Wolverines in February 2021 and linebacker Ben VanSumeren entered the portal a day later after three seasons in Ann Arbor. The older of the two committed to Michigan State a week later as a transfer and the younger one gave a verbal pledge to the Spartans in July before signing in December.

  • Michigan State lands 4-star DT Alex VanSumeren

    Michigan State has picked up their 17th commit of the 2022 recruiting cycle and it may have been one of the biggest recruiting wins of the Mel Tucker era. Alex VanSumeren, a native of Essexville, Michigan, has made his decision to commit to Michigan State. Known as ‘AVS’, VanSumeren is a 6-foot-3, 300 pound defensive tackle. He plays his high school football at Garber High School.
