It’s been more than 40 years since Michigan State hosted Notre Dame in basketball, so might as well make it a big one. A top-five matchup qualifies as big, and that’s exactly what’s on tap as No. 3 Michigan State hosts No. 5 Notre Dame in at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Breslin Center as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, the first top-five matchup in East Lansing since Jan. 7, 2014, when the fifth-ranked Spartans beat third-ranked Ohio State.
