Jacob Isaia and Michigan State offensive line coach Mark Staten go way back. As the grandson of Spartans legend Bob Apisa, Isaia visited campus as a youngster and got introduced to the coaching staff. Staten, who has been with Michigan State for a decade, was one of the first coaches he met.
