History says MSU will handle this week well. The Spartans under Mark Dantonio are normally terrific in games after big games — they’re 8-2 the week after playing Michigan, 5-2 after Ohio State, 6-3 after Notre Dame. Beating the teams they should beat has been as much a part of shaking the “Same old Spartans” rep as anything they’ve done in the Dantonio era.
