Bowling Green has not beaten the Spartans in two previous meetings in East Lansing. MSU won, 10-7, in 1981 and 28-17 in 2007. The Falcons stumbled through a 1-8 start to the 2016 season under Jinks, but they recovered to close the season with victories in their final three games against Akron, Kent State and Buffalo.
