It was the offseason last year when Michigan State receiver Jayden Reed was approached about switching numbers. The Spartans were looking to bring back the No. 1 jersey, which was worn by some of the top receivers in program history, after a nearly two-decade absence. Viewing it as an honor, Reed accepted the number change, then backed it up with his performance on the field.
