After resetting the indoor program record for the second time this season, Michigan State pole vaulter Sophia Franklin was named the Big Ten Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday. The Spartan senior broke her previous school record of 4.27m from the Michigan Invitational in January with a 4.33m vault at the Meyo Invitational on Feb. 5 and then topped that with a 4.38m mark on her third try at that height later in the day, earning her first place in the event at Notre Dame’s Loftus Sports Center.
