Michigan State made another move to bolster its defensive interior.Eli Coenen, a redshirt sophomore defensive tackle at Illinois, announced his transfer commitment to the Spartans on Monday. He had 12 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 13 games this season for the Fighting Illini and has two years of eligibility remaining. Coenen, 6-foot-7 and 290 pounds, is a Wisconsin native who spent two years at Division II Bemidji State and a standout 2024 season led to a transfer to Illinois. He posted a season-high four tackles with a sack in a 30-28 win against Tennessee in the Music City Bowl.
