Seven Spartans reached double figures, as the No. 23 Michigan State women’s basketball team opened the season with a wire-to-wire win over Mercyhurst, 125-39, Tuesday night at the Breslin Center. The Spartans broke the school record for points scored in a game, smashing the previous record of 116 against Niagara on Nov. 4, 2008.
