Rather than holding an exhibition game against a Division II opponent, as was custom for so many years, Michigan State hosted a mid-major Division I team that gave it a legitimate scare in East Lansing last season. Breslin Center opened its doors Thursday night as the Spartans hosted Bowling Green for the first of two exhibition contests before their Nov. 3 season-opener against Colgate.
