The Michigan State wrestling team opened the season at the Clarion Open that saw three top-six finishes on Sunday, Nov. 5. The day was highlighted with junior Luke Daly leading the way for the Spartans in the 197 division with a team high fourth-place place finish. The Carbondale, Illinois, native posted three victories on the day that started with a 19-4 tech fall against Ike Schmidt from Columbia at the 6:41 mark. Daly went on to win two more matches with a 7-4 decision in the round of 16 and knocking off the 29th ranked Sam Mitchell from Buffalo, 5-4, before dropping his next two matches securing the fourth-place place spot.
