Trailing for most of the game, Michigan State basketball needed someone to step up and take over in the second half. Down eight, AJ Hoggard looked like that guy. After coming off the bench earlier in the game, Hoggard looked like he was going to will the Spartans to victory over a Northwestern team that had no business leading this game. He finished a huge and-one down 64-58 to cut the Wildcats’ lead to just three and then bodied a defender for an impressive bucket right after to cut the lead to one.
