Thorne is highly functional when running a hurry-up offense. He demonstrated that ability 8½ months ago when he helped the Spartans overtake Pittsburgh in a 31-21 Peach Bowl victory. On the game-winning possession, the redshirt junior quarterback threw the ball 10 times and led MSU to the end zone in two minutes, 46 seconds. Then, as MSU exhaled its last gasp Saturday, he spearheaded an even faster scoring drive: four plays, 75 yards in 67 seconds.
