At the end of a detailed answer about Michigan State’s wide receivers, Payton Thorne nonchalantly noted that it’s difficult to lend new insight on how good senior Jayden Reed is. In that sense, Thorne’s response mirrored the state of the Spartans’ receiving corps heading into the 2022 season. Reed is the go-to option — the known commodity who had 59 receptions for more than 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns last season. Tre Mosley has established himself to a lesser extent. After being MSU’s No. 3 receiver with 35 receptions (530 yards, one score) last season, he’s expected to move up a peg this fall. Outside of Reed and Mosley, however, the group is largely unproven.
