Michigan State’s 2022 season opener on Friday, Sept. 2 vs. Western Michigan in Spartan Stadium will start at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN. This marks the eighth time in the past 12 years that Michigan State will open the season with a Friday night game in East Lansing, and the first under third-year head coach Mel Tucker. It’s also the 10th time since 2011 that MSU will open on a Friday night. The Spartans are 14-2 all-time against the Broncos, including a Friday night home win in 2013. MSU also beat WMU in Kalamazoo on Friday night to start the 2015 season.
