Imagine if Michigan State’s football team had faced Stanford or TCU instead of Alabama in its first game of the 2015 College Football Playoff. What a different experience that would have been. Or, a year earlier, if the Spartans had hosted a playoff game against Ole Miss — an SEC team traveling to East Lansing in mid-December.
