After his games this season, whether he’s playing in the NBA or the G-League, Wizards rookie point guard Cassius Winston will check his phone and sometimes see a text from Tom Izzo, his former college coach at Michigan State University. Izzo is in the middle of another season coaching the Spartans, but makes time to watch Winston whenever he can and offer words of encouragement when he sees fit.
