Shortly after Michigan State’s surprising 78-71 victory at Indiana on Saturday, NCAA.com’s Andy Katz said something that gave me pause: “If Michigan State goes 4-2 in its final six games, I think the Spartans are comfortably in the field. “When Katz made the statement, MSU was 11-9 overall and 5-9 in the Big Ten. This same Spartans team has losses to Northwestern and Minnesota to go with a pair of 30-point blowout defeats to Iowa (at home) and at Rutgers. So, the “go 4-2 and you’re in comfortably” was a double-take moment.
