This wasn’t supposed to be happening. The Dowell’s nest in suburban Cleveland appeared ready to become empty, the well-used basketball hoop in the driveway that forged the three boys’ competitive fire going unused and nearing the end of its lifespan. All three of them about to splinter in different directions and enter different phases of their football careers. Instead, the coronavirus shutdown arrived. And for the foreseeable future, the Dowell home once again filled up with the sounds and presence of all three sons under one roof again.
