James (6-foot-6, 198 pounds) is rated the No. 12 player in the country and the No. 1 point guard in the country in the 247sports composite. He’s garnered plenty of attention from Michigan State this summer, after the Spartans offered him a scholarship in April. James’ father played for Michigan State under Jud Heathcote in the late 1980’s, when Tom Izzo was an assistant.
