Nick Ward spent his Thursday night at the opening of the Moneyball Pro-Am, playing for free in front of a few thousand fans a few miles down the road from Michigan State. He could have just as easily been just about any NBA city preparing for the NBA summer league, where he most likely would have earned a spot had he chosen to leave school go pro. The line between those two places was a thin one.
