Need a key punt return? How about a late interception? Jim Ellis was your man. In 1951 and 1952, Ellis was named to the Chicago Tribune Players All-America defensive team. He earned those honors with his penchant for big – and timely – plays during his three-year career at what was then known as Michigan State College. He was the first Spartan in program history to earn back-to-back All-American honors.
