“That has been my goal all along, to play both sports,” The 6-foot-6, 250-pound Berghorst said. “That was huge that they gave me that opportunity. I was excited about that. Both coaches are cool with me doing it. There is a guy in the Class of 2018 that is coming in to do it, and another one in (the Class of 2019) who is going try to do both as well, so they are good with it.” The rapport he built up with MSU’s football coach Mark Dantonio and baseball coach Jake Boss was crucial, too.
