“Validation.” That is the word Kelvin Torbert used to describe Michigan State’s 2005 March run that saw the Spartans go from an opening-round loss to Iowa in the Big Ten Tournament to a win over Duke and a double-overtime thriller against Kentucky en route to Tom Izzo’s fourth Final Four in seven seasons.
