Michigan State didn’t want to be there. Not in San Diego, necessarily – who wouldn’t enjoy a little warmth and sun and sand this time of the year? Not even the Holiday Bowl. It’s a fine spectacle and offered a ranked opponent in Washington State and a week’s worth of festivities.
