What a weekend for Michigan State. The football team, ranked 16th in the nation, accepted an invitation to play in the Holiday Bowl. The men’s basketball team, No. 3 in the nation, beat up on Nebraska to start 1-0 in Big Ten play. Four-star Detroit Cass Tech cornerback Kalon Gervin, the 20th-ranked senior cornerback in the nation, pledged to the Spartans over Oregon, ending a lengthy recruiting process.
