Taro Hirose’s goal with 40 seconds to play in the third period snapped a 2-2 tie and lifted the Michigan State hockey team past Bowling Green, 3-2, on Saturday night at Munn Ice Arena. The win was the first for head coach Danton Cole and evened MSU’s record at 1-1. “It was a lot fun tonight. Obviously, the guys did an outstanding job,” said Cole. “It has been a pretty good evolution for our team. They’re going to work hard, they’re going to do some good stuff and we’re going to have to win games like that. I’m really happy for the 25 guys in our locker room.”
