Two games into 2016, Michigan State appeared to be on solid footing. The Spartans survived for a lackluster home win against Furman and then won a primetime matchup at Notre Dame. The defending Big Ten champions were ranked in the top 10 the nation and looking to continue the 36-5 run coach Mark Dantonio guided the program to over the previous three seasons. And then they lost seven straight en route to a 3-9 finish for the program’s worst record since 1982 and there was plenty of blame to spread around.
