Tyson Smith has only a partial recollection of the day that changed his life. Two days after Michigan State’s season ended with a loss at Penn State, Smith was helping a friend pack when he suddenly felt a severe headache. The Spartans cornerback tried to ignore the pain, but over the next week it got worse and worse. He couldn’t sleep, and medicine offered no relief, so he eventually found himself undergoing an MRI.
