Connor Heyward leads the way out of the Peachtree Ridge High boys’ locker room, where he had politely answered questions lobbed at him about his road to Michigan State. It’s a late April morning, and Heyward’s high school career is winding down. He walks into the gym and is bombarded by a wall of shouting teenage voices. It’s one of two gym classes on his four-block schedule, and today is dodgeball day. Several friends approach and ask Heyward if he can play.
