Jamal Lyles grew up on a steady diet of Detroit Lions football, from Barry Sanders highlights to Calvin Johnson’s games. He played at Ford Field as a 10-year-old, when his youth league team was picked to play an exhibition at halftime of a Lions game, and he dreamed of one day playing for his hometown team. So when Lyles, a former Michigan State tight end, walked into the Lions’ Allen Park practice facility early today for the team’s local workout day, he had to remind himself he was there for business.
