Bridges was unanimously chosen as the conference’s top newcomer on Monday, The 6-foot-7 forward ranked seventh in the league in scoring (16.6 ppg), fifth in rebounding (8.3 rpg), fourth in blocks (1.6 bpg) and 12th in 3s made per game (2.0). He becomes the second Big Ten Freshman of the Year for Michigan State, joining Gary Harris in 2013. The former McDonald’s All-American was also named second team All-Big Ten.
