A season that began in a submarine surfaced Saturday with an 18-13 record.It’s hard to believe that it was only 3 months, 23 days ago. Backlit by a perfect sunset, the Michigan State basketball team climbed into the USS Cheyenne, an aging 360-foot ship docked at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. It was the day before MSU’s Nov. 11 season opener against Arizona in Hawaii. The Spartans toured the vessel, contorting themselves through the corridors and cramped confines.
