When Mark Dantonio first took over at Michigan State 10 years ago, an unofficial policy known as the gentleman’s agreement between Big Ten coaches was still largely in place:If a football recruit was verbally committed to a school, the rest of the coaches in the conference wouldn’t continue to recruit that prospect. He was off limits.Slowly, over the years, that policy broke down, largely though some high-profile episodes.
