Twenty-one FBS programs will have a different head coach in 2017 than they started with in 2016. This isn’t anything new; coaching is a migratory profession. But Michigan State has been a relatively stable exception to that rule for the past decade, since Mark Dantonio was hired to replace John L. Smith.
