Michigan State quarterbacks aren’t just heading to the NFL. They’re staying. Look at Cardinals QB Drew Stanton and Bears QB Brian Hoyer. Both were recruited to MSU before the Mark Dantonio era — Hoyer by John L. Smith, Stanton by Bobby Williams. Both started NFL games in 2016. But the success didn’t stop when Dantonio was hired. He helped develop Hoyer into a player who has started 31 games in an eight-year pro career.
