The Michigan State wrestling team heads to Chapel Hill, N.C., to compete in the ACC-Big Ten Clash this Saturday, Nov. 15. The Spartans will face off against North Carolina, North Carolina State and Virginia, the same three teams they saw in last season's Clash.

The 10th-ranked Spartans received an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament Tuesday evening and will face seventh-ranked North Carolina in the first round on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. Michigan State was also selected as one of four host sites for the first and second round games. It is just the second time the Spartans have been selected to host.

Michigan State has won its last nine season openers - all of which at the Breslin Center - including a 65-35 win over IUPUI in Suzy Merchant's debut last season. In those nine games, MSU has averaged a 21.6 point margin of victory. All-time, Spartans are 24-12 in season openers and are 29-7 in their home opener.

Michigan State head women's basketball coach Suzy Merchant announced today the signing of Kelsey Smith and Jasmine Thomas to National Letters of Intent. Smith (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North), and Thomas (Flint, Mich./ Flint Hamady) will be eligible to join the Spartans for the 2009-10 season.

Mark Dantonio and Brian Hoyer were on the same wavelength, as all good coaches and quarterbacks should be. They agreed that a bye in Week 12 would be no good if Michigan State hadn't gotten past late losses and self-imposed limits. The wins include a 21-7 victory over Purdue last Saturday.
