There’s this feeling out there that the Spartans are going to get beat badly against Penn State. The spread on the game is 14 ½ which is ridiculously high for a battle for a conference championship. I think that’s totally, entirely and completely based on what’s happened during the Spartans’ past few visits to Happy Valley, where they haven’t won

For MSU to win this game, they’re going to have to play significantly above their baseline level of performance, and they’re going to need Penn State to play at the bottom of its range of performances to date–or really lay an egg.

Michigan State hasn't won in Happy Valley since Penn State joined the Big Ten. Technically, the Spartans haven't tasted victory there since the 1960s, but the two teams haven't played annually until the Big Ten became 11.

First of all, anyone should want a coach that is wanted. How many times have the Spartans been stuck with coaches that we couldn’t have gotten EMU to take? Dantonio is wanted. He has made it clear that that he wasn’t interested at all in the Tennessee job. If Spurrier were to retire, there is absolutely NO DOUBT that they (South Carolina) would wa

With temperatures not expected to exceed 30 degrees, possible snow showers and 15 mile-per-hour wind gusts in the forecast, weather could play into Saturday’s conference championship collision between MSU and Penn State. While the below-freezing temperatures might not factor into the game at Beaver Stadium as much, wind and precipitation could hav

Michigan State fans know it well. That feeling of seeing a promising season collapse into a disappointing one. The "collapse" happened so many times in Spartan recent history that waiting for the collapse to happen became a national joke. Talking heads on ESPN, writers for Sports Illustrated, and fans all around the country would see a fast star

Otis Wiley practiced fully Tuesday and said he "tweaked," didn't pull, his groin (not sure the difference there) and will be good to go Saturday. Wiley also said Kendell Davis-Clark is "back in full effect" in practice, so that will be a big boost against Northwestern. Ross Weaver also is 100 percent after getting what he called a flu bug and

Mark Dantonio knows what Northwestern can do. His Michigan State defense won't have to be reminded.
The Spartans were shredded by quarterback C.J. Bacher last fall and fell 48-41 in overtime. Bacher ruined MSU's Homecoming with 38 completions for a school-record 520 yards and five touchdowns. Saturday, the No. 23 Spartans (5-1, 2-0 Big Ten) can

Michigan State's five-game win streak has propelled the Spartans into the rankings for the first time in nearly three years. Despite riding a similar streak, Northwestern remains on the outside looking in. In a matchup between Big Ten rivals looking for a sixth straight victory, the 23rd-ranked Spartans look to protect their ranking Saturday when

The way Brian Kelly remembers that day in 2006, he was driving on a tollway in Chicago on a recruiting trip for the Central Michigan team he coached when he heard on the radio that the University of Cincinnati had upset the new darling of college football, seventh-ranked Rutgers. He turned to his companion and said of the Cincinnati coach, “Mark D
