freep.com —  After being decimated by injuries last year, Michigan State's women's basketball program is expected to return to the upper echelon of the Big Ten. Coaches and media members selected the Spartans to finish third in the conference when the Big Ten released both polls Sunday at its basketball media day, and both groups placed 6-foot-9 junior center Allyssa DeHaan on the preseason all-conference team. Although the Spartans missed the NCAA tournament last season, they won 10 of their last 13 games and advanced to the NIT finals under then first-year coach Suzy Merchant. MSU finished 23-14.
